Expanding Outreach Through Spirulina-Based Nutrition Support

On 27th June 2025, the One Dollar One Child (ODOC) team visited Shamrock School in Chennai to present the ODOC Project—an initiative developed to address child malnutrition through Spirulina supplementation. This visit is part of the ODOC team’s ongoing efforts to engage schools and institutions in offering students a path to improved health through natural nutrition solutions.

Engagement with School Leadership

Discussion with Principal Ms. Hema

The ODOC team was welcomed by Principal Ms. Hema, with whom an in-depth discussion was held regarding the project’s objectives, methodology, and its proven impact in previously participating institutions.

The presentation highlighted:

  • The nutritional benefits of Spirulina, a safe and natural supplement
  • The positive health outcomes seen in children suffering from nutritional deficiencies
  • The project’s assessment process and how it can be adapted to meet the school’s needs

Ms. Hema showed genuine interest in the project and acknowledged its relevance to student well-being. However, she emphasized the importance of involving the school management in the decision-making process before moving forward.

Awaiting Feedback from School Management

Ms. Hema assured the ODOC team that she would present the proposal to the management committee and share their collective feedback within the following week. This step is critical to ensure institutional alignment and parental confidence in the program’s goals.

Conclusion: A Promising Partnership in the Making

The ODOC team remains hopeful and optimistic about building a collaboration with Shamrock School to promote better nutrition and healthier futures for students. As the team awaits a response from the school management, they continue their mission to expand the reach of Spirulina supplementation and foster impactful change in the lives of children across communities.

Through education, dialogue, and partnership, the ODOC Project is steadily building a network of schools committed to fighting malnutrition and supporting holistic child development.
