Introducing the ODOC Project to Jamia Hussainiya Yatheem Khana Trust
As part of the ongoing One Dollar One Child (ODOC) Project Awareness and Community Engagement initiative, the ODOC team conducted a key outreach session on 2nd July 2025 at Jamia Hussainiya Yatheem Khana Trust, located in Tambaram, Chennai. The session was held with Mr. Qari Anwer, with the objective of introducing the ODOC initiative and exploring a potential collaboration to improve child health and nutrition through Spirulina supplementation.
Project Overview and Impact Sharing
Fostering Dialogue and Participation
The ODOC team presented a comprehensive overview of the project, including:
- The goals of combating malnutrition among children
- The documented health improvements seen in partner institutions
- The importance of ongoing health assessments and evidence-backed strategies
With over 50 children enrolled at the Madarsa, the institution holds strong potential to benefit from the ODOC initiative. The team shared successful case studies and assessment data from previous phases to underscore the project’s positive outcomes.
Addressing Safety Concerns Around Spirulina
As with many first-time engagements, concerns were raised regarding the safety of Spirulina supplementation, particularly for young children in a care setting. Mr. Qari Anwer voiced the institution’s responsibility to ensure that any intervention aligns with the children’s health and safety needs.
To address these concerns, the ODOC team:
- Presented scientific data and results from prior implementations
- Emphasized that distribution would be done only under medical guidance
- Reiterated the importance of parental and institutional consent at every step
This open and transparent approach helped build trust and clarified the program’s safety-first methodology.
Conclusion: Building Trust for Sustainable Impact
The session at Jamia Hussainiya Yatheem Khana Trust highlighted both the promise and responsibility that come with expanding ODOC’s reach. With around 50 potential beneficiaries, the institution represents a valuable partner in the fight against childhood malnutrition.
By prioritizing trust, communication, and evidence-based practices, the ODOC team is steadily working toward its mission of creating healthier communities—one child, one institution at a time.
