As part of the Farmer Empowerment Project, the Sunyatee International Foundation initiated a strategic step toward strengthening sustainable market linkages for local vegetable growers in Siddipet, Telangana. The core objective of this initiative was to ensure that farmers receive fair and timely prices for their produce by establishing direct procurement channels and reducing dependency on middlemen.

Direct Procurement Initiative

To create a transparent and farmer-friendly supply chain, the project partnered with DXN Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd. for bulk procurement of vegetables. The procurement process was executed in three batches between 29th July and 4th August 2025, resulting in the direct sourcing of fresh produce from local farmers.

The quantities procured included:

  • Beetroot – 200 Kgs
  • Capsicum – 80 Kgs
  • Tomatoes – 150 Kgs
  • Onions – 150 Kgs

This initiative not only guaranteed fair pricing but also minimized post-harvest losses and ensured that farmers were paid promptly for their hard work.

Benefits for Vegetable Growers

The direct procurement model offered multiple benefits:

  • Fair and Transparent Pricing: Farmers received just compensation without deductions by intermediaries.
  • Market Stability: Farmers gained access to a reliable and recurring buyer, creating financial security.
  • Confidence Building: By being part of an institutional supply chain, farmers were encouraged to expand production and adopt sustainable practices.

These positive outcomes have already generated enthusiasm among the farming community, with many expressing strong interest in future procurement drives.

Towards a Sustainable Agricultural Ecosystem

The success of this model reflects the broader vision of the Farmer Empowerment Project: to build a resilient, farmer-centric ecosystem where growers are connected directly to institutional buyers. By replicating and scaling this initiative, the project aims to:

  • Enhance income security for small and marginal farmers.
  • Encourage sustainable farming practices.
  • Strengthen rural communities through collective economic growth.

Conclusion : Enhancing Market Opportunities for Vegetable Growers

The vegetable procurement initiative in Siddipet stands as a promising milestone in advancing farmer empowerment. By bridging the gap between vegetable growers, producers, and large-scale buyers, the project has demonstrated how strategic collaborations can create lasting impact.

Looking ahead, the Farmer Empowerment Project remains committed to expanding this model across regions, ensuring that vegetable growers and farmers continue to enjoy fair market opportunities, sustainable growth, and long-term empowerment.
