Empowering Underserved Children Through Nutrition
In a continued effort to fight childhood malnutrition in India, the Sunyatee International Foundation, in collaboration with DXN, conducted a critical child health assessment under the ODOC (One Dollar One Child) initiative on June 19, 2025. The event took place at Jamia Usmania Yateem Khana Trust, Chennai, with the goal of screening vulnerable children for malnutrition and providing immediate nutritional interventions.
Screening and Findings
A total of 55 children were screened, with a staggering 43 identified as undernourished. The assessments were conducted using standard BMI measurements and physical health indicators, supported by the real-time capabilities of the ODOC web application. This digital platform allowed for precise data collection and immediate analysis, enabling fast and efficient decision-making for intervention.
Nutritional Support Using Spirulina
To combat the nutritional deficiencies, DXN Spirulina supplements were distributed to all identified children. Spirulina is a superfood rich in protein, iron, vitamins, and essential nutrients, known to boost immunity, improve energy, and support cognitive development—making it an ideal solution in malnutrition recovery efforts.
Educational Awareness Session
An engaging awareness session was also organized for the children and their caregivers. The session included:
- Proper usage and dosage of Spirulina supplements
- Recommended intake schedules for optimal results
- Discussion on long-term health benefits such as improved immunity, vitality, and academic performance
These educational efforts are essential to ensure sustainable health practices within the community.
Community Response
The initiative was met with enthusiastic support from the staff and children of the Jamia Usmania Yateem Khana Trust. The event fostered a spirit of hope and collective responsibility, reinforcing the importance of community-based nutritional programs in ensuring the well-being of every child.

Conclusion
The ODOC Assessment Project’s visit to Jamia Usmania Yateem Khana Trust marks a significant step in the journey to eradicate child malnutrition in underserved communities. By combining technology, nutrition, and education, Sunyatee International Foundation and DXN are creating a lasting impact—one child at a time. With continued monitoring, community involvement, and targeted supplementation, we are committed to building a healthier, brighter future for children across India.
