Visit to Madarse Habeebiya in Kolathur

On 2nd June 2025, the One Dollar One Child (ODOC) team visited Madarse Habeebiya in Kolathur, Chennai, as part of its ongoing outreach and awareness efforts. The team met with Moulana Ibrahim to introduce the ODOC Project and explore the possibility of implementing it within the Madarsa.

Overview of the ODOC Project

The ODOC Project, an initiative of the Sunyatee International Foundation, is dedicated to improving child nutrition in underserved communities through daily Spirulina supplementation. Spirulina, a highly nutritious superfood, helps address key health issues in growing children by boosting immunity, energy, and overall development.

During the meeting, the ODOC team presented a comprehensive overview of the project, sharing real-life examples of its successful implementation in other Madarsas. These case studies helped demonstrate how children showed noticeable improvements in their health and well-being after joining the program.

Positive Response : ODOC Project

Moulana Ibrahim was receptive to the project and expressed appreciation for its purpose and design. He recognized the urgent need to tackle malnutrition among children and welcomed the idea of launching the initiative at his institution.

Currently, Madarse Habeebiya has 20 students. To create a greater impact, Moulana Ibrahim suggested a collaborative approach—merging his students with a nearby Madarsa. This would allow a larger number of children to benefit from the nutritional support offered by the ODOC Project.

Next Steps: Combining Efforts for Broader Reach

The ODOC team welcomed this suggestion and agreed to move forward with a plan to conduct assessments for students from both Madarsas. By combining the groups, the project can significantly increase its outreach and efficiency, making the most of its resources while ensuring better health outcomes for more children.

Conclusion: Growing Together for Better Health

The collaboration with Madarse Habeebiya reflects the ODOC Project’s strength in building local partnerships to reach those who need support the most. With enthusiastic leadership and a shared commitment to child welfare, this initiative is set to expand its impact in Kolathur. The ODOC team will now begin preparations for joint assessments and further implementation—ensuring that more children benefit from Spirulina-based nutrition, one child at a time.
