Reaching Underserved Communities Through ODOC

On 21st June 2025, the One Dollar One Child (ODOC) team visited Anjuman-e-Hafizia, a charitable trust in Chennai dedicated to the education and well-being of underprivileged children. The institution currently supports 18 children who are actively pursuing their studies and living under the care of the trust.

This visit was part of ODOC’s broader mission to extend its Spirulina-based nutritional intervention to children in vulnerable communities through collaboration, awareness, and grassroots-level implementation.

Introducing the ODOC Project

Meeting with the Teacher-in-Charge

During the visit, the ODOC team met with the teacher in charge and presented a clear overview of the ODOC Project. The discussion highlighted how Spirulina supplementation has helped improve the nutritional status of children in other partner institutions, emphasizing its safety, cost-effectiveness, and proven health benefits.

The teacher expressed enthusiasm for the initiative and granted approval to begin the awareness campaign, recognizing its potential to support the children’s overall development.

Planning for Implementation and Expansion

With approval secured, the ODOC team has begun preparations to finalize the campaign date. In a strategic move to broaden impact, the team is also exploring the possibility of collaborating with a nearby organization to conduct assessments for a larger group of children in a combined campaign effort.

This collaborative model is expected to increase efficiency, enhance resource utilization, and ultimately provide nutritional support to more children in a single rollout.

Conclusion: Strengthening Impact Through Community Collaboration

The positive response from Anjuman-e-Hafizia and the openness to partnership with neighboring institutions mark a significant step forward in ODOC’s grassroots engagement strategy. By building trust and aligning with local efforts, the project continues to scale its reach—empowering communities to combat malnutrition through education, awareness, and action.

The ODOC team remains committed to organizing an effective, inclusive, and impactful campaign that benefits not only the children at Anjuman-e-Hafizia but others in the surrounding area as well.
