Chapter 16: The Fire Extinguished – “There Are Two”
In this enriching session, Datuk Dr. Lim Siow Jin shared valuable insights on how these principles can be reflected in daily living. Dr. Rajesh Savera guided the discussion with clarity and precision, focusing on the Buddha’s teaching of two essential principles that lead to the complete fulfilment of a noble life.
The discourse in EA 16.6 begins with the Buddha addressing the bhikshus at Anāthapiṇḍika’s Ashrama in Jetavana, Śrāvastī. He described the teaching as excellent in the beginning, middle, and end—full of meaning and flavour. These two principals were presented not just as theoretical ideas, but as practical foundations for a well-lived life.
Participants were encouraged to contemplate how such balanced and meaningful teachings can bring clarity and direction to one’s actions and decisions.
